How I got pregnant naturally with PCOS
I had met my husband when I was eighteen. He was seven years my senior and already a father of two. He is my first and only love. We fell hard for each other, and within three years, we were married.
I was not alarmed when I didn't get pregnant after several episodes of unprotected sex during gaps of me taking birth control pills. In the back of my mind, I wondered if all was well, but didn't dwell on it because pregnancy was not in the plans for at least another four years after I completed college. But this should have been an indication that something was amiss.
My periods had always been irregular. At one point when I was 16, I was taken to the doctor after not seeing my period for about six months. My doctor put me on birth control pills to regulate my cycle and my period did return, but disappeared again once the pills were finished. Over the following years, I had several instances of missed periods that would sometimes skip a month or two. In the back of my mind I knew that something was not quite right, but figured it would resolve itself in due time.
It wasn’t until baby fever started to set in that I really began to worry about not being able to have children with the love of my life. I would spend days fantasizing about having my husband’s babies, being pregnant and who my kids would look like. Plus, he was such a loving father to my stepchildren. I began to feel that there was something that he was experiencing as a father that I could not relate to because I wasn’t a parent. The thought of never being able to do that was unbearable. Then there were the comments by family members and friends asking when are we going to have our own kids. I never figured out a good answer, so I just pretended that we weren't ready and were not trying, rather than tell them that it just wasn't happening for us.
About three years into my marriage my period went away again for six months! This time I decided to go see an OB/GYN to get to the bottom of the problem. After a series of questions, my OB/GYN sent me to get a scan of my reproductive organs, which confirmed that I had multiple cysts on my ovaries. I was subsequently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). He advised me further on my condition and confirmed that infertility is one of the many symptoms of PCOS (you can get more information about PCOS here). He did reassure me that many women with PCOS went on to have children even without fertility drugs, but still I was devastated.
There was just no way I would've been able to afford fertility drugs; I didn't have insurance, and even then, it was just so expensive! I decided to keep my fingers crossed and hope that I’d be among the lucky ones and fall pregnant on my own. We kept trying for five years, and still, nothing! As I approached thirty, I began to worry that It may really never happen for me, at least not without help.
Vitex to the Rescue
I started researching alternative treatments for PCOS and infertility. I combed through the internet: every browser, every blog and every snipped that made mention of PCOS. Then I came across a video on YouTube that changed my life. In it, a young woman was detailing a similar struggle with PCOS. Like me, she was trying for years, but unlike me, she was pregnant. She then mentioned that she was able to take fertility drugs, but was unsuccessful in getting pregnant, and that she had severe side effects. She then mentioned that she came across a natural fertility herb called VITEX, which she took for about three months before discovering that she was pregnant!
I was so intrigued. I started researching VITEX and discovered that it had been used for centuries for infertility and hormonal issues in women. It’s a natural extract from the Chaste Berry tree that has been used to regulate hormones in women and alleviate menstrual symptoms. After reading the testimonies of many women who had success following VITEX, I was sold!
I finally got my hand on VITEX in December 29, 2011. On April 6, 2012, I found out I was pregnant! Four years later, I’m a delighted mother of two! I cannot say enough how grateful I am for VITEX! I encourage any woman out there suffering from infertility due to PCOS to try it BEFORE taking fertility drugs. I knew it was working from the first month I took it. It reduced my period from 36 to 32 days within 1 cycle.
My children have enriched my life in ways that I cannot explain. It is my hope that all women suffering from infertility get to experience the joy of motherhood. I cannot say enough how grateful I am that someone was willing to share their story, and I hope that in sharing mine at least 1 woman will find success with VITEX.
